Vincent O Brien, joined An Garda Síochána in 1981 and was assigned to the Donegal Division. On promotion to the Rank of Superintendent he served as District officer in charge of the Buncrana and Letterkenny Garda Districts.
He also held the positions of Regional Public Order Commander and On Scene Commander in the Northern Region.
Vincent completed the ‘Competency based Interview training’ programme’ provided by An Garda Siochana and sat on many interview boards for internal appointments. Having climbed through the ranks over a period of 32 years he has vast experience of what it is like, to sit on both sides of the interview table. ‘Apart from undertaking many Garda Professional Development Courses, Vincent holds a ‘Bachelor of Arts Degree (first class honours) in Police Management’ from the Garda College and a Certificate in Strategic HRM Development from Dublin City University.
On retirement Vincent served on the 2014 panel for correction of Sergeants and Inspectors examination papers. He also undertook a ‘Start your own business Course’ with the Donegal Local Enterprise Office in 2015.
