Minister Announces New Garda Recruiting Campaign
‘Fitzgerald announces 600 new Gardai to be recruited in 2016’ The Minister added “The ongoing recruitment of new Gardai is crucial for An Garda Siochana and for the safety of communities throughout Ireland. This Government reopened the Garda College, Templemore in 2014 and with this budget allocation today we are delivering on our promise to ensure it won’t close again”

On 27th November 2015, the new recruitment campaign was launched on www.publicjobs.ie New in this campaign is the Garda Reserve Stream and the Irish Language stream. This is where members of the Garda Reserve who have fulfilled their probation period and contractual hours will undergo fast tracking in the recruitment process. Similarly, applicants who are proficient in the use of the Irish Language will undergo a separate entry process. Also new in this campaign is the self assessment questionnaire. This is to assess your suitability to be a Garda. Closing date for the new campaign is 5th January 2016.
