Interviews for the rank of Sergeant are also a two stage process. The first round is within the region you are stationed. Candidates are then selected by the regional board to go forward to the final board.
The self assessment application form is used for both interviews and consists of eight competency areas. These are broken down into three skill areas: Task skills, Interpersonal skills, and Knowledge base. The objective of the self-assessment form is to:
- Evaluate your experiences and strengths in the key areas defined as crucial to the role of Sergeant.
- Help prepare you for the Interview.
- Identify areas for self-development.
Many candidates find the completion of the assessment form to be difficult and time consuming. Preparation is essential. Read the definitions to get a good understanding of the competency. Study the area of application before you select an example from your work experience. Get all your examples down on paper in draft form. This is where we can help you meet the competency requirements.
